  • Governor DeSantis announced details of Florida’s new back to school sales tax holiday that will begin on Friday, August 1st and run through August 31st – annually. The holiday was made permanent during this year’s state legislative session. School supplies up to $50 in value, clothing under $100 and personal computers and related accessories up to $1,500 are included.  
  • Fort Pierce Commissioner James Taylor has tendered his resignation, effective this upcoming Saturday, following his recent arrest for sending nude photos to a minor on Snapchat. Commissioners have begun planning for a special election and will meet next Monday to discuss next steps. 
  • A Florida attraction is number three in the world according to Trip Advisor. NASA’s Kennedy Space Center is the highest rated attraction in the U.S. and only behind the Basilica de la Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and the Eiffel Tower in Paris. 
  • It'll be sunny, hot and humid again today with highs in the low 90’s, which is warmer than usual for this date. More Saharan dust is on its way as it's currently tracking across the central Atlantic and towards the Caribbean. Related... 
  • The National Hurricane Center’s 7-day Tropical Weather Outlook is clear with no tropical cyclone activity expected.  
  • Gas prices dropped three cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.06 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.21 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.05 and in Indian River County the average is $3.08 per gallon.
