- District Court Judge Kathleen Williams, an Obama appointee, ordered a halting of the expansion efforts at Alligator Alcatraz. While ruling that operations could continue, the judge said that as the population of the illegal alien detention center decreases, fencing, lighting, and generators should be removed from the facility.
- Lt. Governor Jay Collins extradited Harjinder Singh, the illegal alien who was issued a CDL by California and Washington, responsible for the recent death of three on Florida’s turnpike, from California. Singh faces charges for vehicular homicide of the three victims in addition to an ICE detainer.
- Mike Caruso was sworn in as Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller for Palm Beach County on Thursday. The former state rep replaces Joe Abruzzo who recently became the county’s administrator. Caruso has stated that he intends to remain in the office past the conclusion of the current term and will run for election to the office next year.
- It'll be sunny to start the day with increasing clouds and chances of afternoon thunderstorms. Highs will once again be in the low 90’s, which is warmer than usual for this date. A thin layer of Saharan dust stretches from the Bahamas to the Caribbean Sea heading towards the Gulf of America. It will impact South Florida this weekend.
- The National Hurricane Center is tracking four systems. Hurricane Erin continues to weaken as it heads out towards the northern mid-Atlantic. A disturbance near the Leeward Islands and an 80% chance of development as it tracks north in the coming days. A disturbance in the southern-mid Atlantic has a 60% chance of development as it’s tracking west towards the southern Lesser Antilles. In the Central Atlantic a disturbance that’s nearly stationary has a 10% chance of development. No systems are current concerns for us.
- Gas prices fell another two cents per gallon on Thursday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.96 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.10 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.98, in St Lucie the price is $2.99 and in Indian River County it’s $2.99.
