  • Florida is the top destination in the country for Labor Day Weekend according to AAA, with Orlando and Miami being the top destinations for travelers. The best time to travel today is before noon with the worst time to travel today being between noon and 8 PM.  
  • Fort Lauderdale has joined Delray Beach and Key West in challenging the state’s law and mandate the remove “pride” displays on roadways. Deadlines for removal of the displays are next Wednesday or Thursday based upon the city. Delray Beach is scheduled for an administrative hearing in Orlando next week ahead of the FDOT’s deadline. 
  • It'll be a mix of sun and clouds much of the day and hot once again today with highs near 90, which is slightly warmer than usual for this date. A thin layer of Saharan dust is passing over South Florida today. A more significant plume is currently approaching the Leeward Islands. 
  • The National Hurricane Center is tracking one system. A disturbance off the coast of Africa is currently being given a 20% chance of development. 
  • Gas prices were lower by three cents per gallon on Thursday in advance of Labor Day weekend. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.11 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.27 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.14, it’s $3.15 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.14 per gallon.
