- Florida TaxWatch is seeking to make Florida’s new DOGE audits a permanent and annual part of Florida’s governance. The non-profit watchdog is calling for the state to adopt annual measures to “improve government operations and reduce costs”. Florida’s current law, set through a constitutional amendment in 2006, calls for additional oversight to be provided every four years.
- Delray Beach will be challenging the Florida Department of Transportation’s ordered removal of its “pride” themed intersection at Northeast 1st Street and Northeast 2nd Avenue today. An administrative hearing will take place in Orlando. The FDOT issued a deadline of September 3rd, Wednesday, for removal or the state would remove the display at the City’s expense. Multiple cities face similar deadlines across the state this week.

- The National Hurricane Center is tracking one system. A disturbance off the coast of Africa is currently being given a 60% chance of development by the end of the week.
- Gas prices fell through Labor Day weekend and are two cents lower than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.04 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.19 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.07, it’s $3.06 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.06 per gallon.
