- On this 24th anniversary of the 9-11 terror attacks Governor DeSantis has ordered all Flags at Half-Staff in honor of the victims. Additionally, President Trump has ordered flags at half-staff on public buildings and grounds until sunset on Sunday in honor of Charlie Kirk.
- Florida’s ban on the open carrying of firearms is unconstitutional according to the 1st District Court of Appeal. The three-judge panel ruled that the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution guarantees the right to bear arms including the right to openly do so. In response Florida’s Attorney General James Uthmeier stated: Florida’s 1st District Court of Appeals just ruled that Florida’s open carry ban is no longer constitutionally enforceable statewide. Our office fully supports the Court’s decision. This is a big win for the Second Amendment rights of Floridians. As we’ve all witnessed over the last few days, our God-given right to self-defense is indispensable.
- The budget battle between the Indian River County commissioners and sheriff is over. After a drawn-out, and at times contentious process, the county has voted to raise funding for the sheriff’s office by $6.8 million over the next year. Sheriff Flowers originally sought an additional $14 million and most recently $12 million asking for raises for employees in addition to new equipment including patrol cars. The additional funding will be provided in part through cuts in other county departments.

- The National Hurricane Center’s is tracking a disturbance off the coast of Africa which has a 30% chance of developing over the next seven days.
- Gas prices fell another two cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.01 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.17 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.06, it’s $3.05 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.04 per gallon.
