Florida News That Impacts You – September 29th, 2025  

Bottom Line: Your daily recap of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast.     

  • On Friday the state was reimbursed $30 million from the federal government for its assistance in the detention and deportation of approximately 6,000 illegal aliens during the first five months of the year. Over the weekend it was announced an additional 350 illegal aliens were detained and deported in Brevard County as part of “Operation One-Way Ticket” a multiagency crackdown between ICE, Border Patrol and the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. 
  • Showers and gusty conditions are possible throughout the day due to the outer impacts of Tropical Storm Imelda. Highs in the low-to-mid 80’s, are a little cooler than usual for this date. A thin plume of Saharan dust is tracking from the Florida coastline through the Caribbean Sea and across the central Atlantic acting as a headwind for tropical development. Related...  
  • The National Hurricane Center is tracking two systems in the Atlantic. Major Hurricane Humberto is south of Bermuda and is expected to curve around it towards the northern-mid Atlantic. Tropical Storm Imelda will continue north through the Bahamas slowly gaining strength before tracking east towards Bermuda as a hurricane. All U.S. advisories have been dropped for the storm though marine advisories are in place with rip currents and rough surf throughout the day.  
  • Gas prices continued to fall through the weekend and are 13 cents per gallon lower than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.97 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.12 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.01, it’s $2.99 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.01 per gallon.
