- Florida’s minimum wage is $14 per hour effective today for untipped employees, with a minimum of $10.98 per hour for tipped employees. The minimum wage will rise by another dollar per hour next September and will then adjust with inflation starting in 2027.
- West Palm Beach is the latest local government to adopt school zone speed cameras. The commission voted to install the cameras which detect speeders in school zones, automatically issuing citations, in 21 school zones across the city. West Palm Beach will become the 12th municipality in the Palm Beaches with the cameras. Once installed those traveling over 10 mph above the speed limit will be issued $100 citations.
- Showers are possible throughout the day due to the outer impacts of Tropical Storm Imelda. Highs in the mid 80’s are typical for this date. A thin plume of Saharan dust extends from Hispaniola through the Caribbean Sea and across the central Atlantic acting as a headwind for tropical development. Related...
- The National Hurricane Center is tracking two systems in the Atlantic. Major Hurricane Humberto is Southwest of Bermuda and is expected to curve around it towards the northern-mid Atlantic. Tropical Storm Imelda is expected to strengthen into a hurricane today as it tracks east towards Bermuda.
- Gas prices rose 11 cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.08 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.21 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.10, it’s $3.07 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.10 per gallon.
