Takeaway #1: What’s at stake
Many of the headlines from over the weekend, independent of the partial government shutdown, were as instructive as they were alarming. Here’s a sample: DHS Law enforcement ambushed, boxed in by 10 cars in Chicago suburb. Federal Court overrules president’s authority to send troops amid Portland unrest. Are we in a recession? Yes – if you live in one of these 22 states (by the way, Florida’s economy is particularly strong – that report shows the difference good state economic policy makes). Another huge development over the weekend, more constructively, was that Israel stopped military operations against Hamas as a good will gesture to attempt to get the terror network to accept the 21-point peace plan proposed by President Trump and agreed to by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week. As we’ve entered a new week with much of the news cycle squarely focused on the partial shutdown... For example, on CNN.com, the first thing you see is a Government Shutdown counter – we're at day 5 in case you’re following the partial shutdown minute by minute, day by day progress of the shutdown, perhaps having wondered how the country has managed to survive this long without the full bloat of the federal government in place, the headlines – the biggest stories from over the weekend, help to show what’s at stake. It’s clear that the Marxists on the Left have no shame, no intention of changing tactics. DHS data illustrates a 1,000% increase in assaults on ICE officers compared to the same period in 2024, with approximately 120 assaults on ICE recorded since January 21st (the day after Trump's inauguration). And btw, the trajectory has only been becoming worse. For example, in July, following the targeted assassination attempt on ICE in Dallas by 11 perpetrators, the year-over-year increase stood at an 8-fold increase. This weekend’s blockade of ICE in Chicago included an armed woman who orchestrated the targeted attack and resulted in shots fired. In reality...
Takeaway #2: There’s effectively a war underway with the Marxists in this country
And not of the political variety. Assassinations and attempted assassinations of religious observers, of Charlie Kirk, of ICE agents and of the president aren’t slowing down, they’re speeding up. Not since the 60’s has there been anything akin to this culture within our society – but what’s different now, is the amplification and ease of radicalization online and through social media. Just as Florida has been highly effective in combating would-be threats through law enforcement’s monitored use of social media and digital communications in recent years, that type of approach needs to be applied at the federal level. Organizing online to commit a crime is a crime and should be treated as such. The armed woman in Chicago organized online to create the threat to ICE. That’s a problem that needs to be addressed. As for the federal court halting the Trump administration's effort to combat Portland’s problem with violent crime. That’s no surprise. A total of 430 lawsuits have now been filed against the Trump administration this year...which is still running at close to an average of two per day. What percentage of the time do you think federal judges have ruled against the Trump administration? The answer is 94% of the time. However, how often has the Trump administration won eventual appeals before the Supreme Court? 94% of the time. That’s not a mistake. I said that we’re effectively at war with the Marxists in this country. That includes the federal judiciary too. If not for the Supreme Court holding the line, Marxists on the federal courts would have already effectively eliminated President Trump’s decision-making ability. President Trump’s bold and aggressive approach to policy is precisely what this country needs to win the seize by Marxists seeking to undermine it. This isn’t about Left-Right politics anymore. This is about winning an ideological war against hostile actors seeking to undermine our country by any means. Rules for Radicals is on display from court rooms to streets of blue cities every day. It must be defeated through winning hearts and minds and through effective law enforcement every day. Speaking of winning hearts and minds...
Takeaway #3: It’s across the board
In the wake of the assassination of Charlie Kirk there was a well-documented increase in church attendance. As first reported, we immediately saw an approximate 15% increase in attendance, on par with what we saw post 9-11. However, that wasn’t all as the Hallow app reported a greater than 90% increase in users as well. But that's not all. We’ve seen a 22% jump in Bible sales, and a measured increase in attendance for all Christian denominations. According to Communio which is affiliated with 400 Christian churches, there’s been a consistent increase in attendance in Anglican, non-denominational, and Catholic churches. This is across the board and being led by young men. Unlike what transpired following 9-11, this turn to faith doesn’t appear to be fleeting. If anything, it appears to be gaining steam. This dynamic will be key not just for their souls, but for the future of our country. It’s a mess out there in many ways, however the current religious revival leaves plenty of room for optimism that the cultural pendulum has finally swung in a positive direction. The Marxists are solidly in the minority; they’re just disproportionately in the federal judiciary and news organizations. We’re winning this war, it just often doesn’t feel like it when you’re in the middle of the battle.
