- Jewish leaders from around the state celebrated Monday’s historic peace agreement between Israel and Hamas with the release of all 20 remaining living hostages from the October 7th, 2023, terror attack on Israel. Meanwhile, the Al-Awda Palestine Right to Return Coalition in Broward County put out a statement entitled: 2 Years of Accelerated Genocide & Resistance critical of the peace accord saying: The genocide continues because it is armed, funded, and shielded — indeed, directed — by the United States and its imperialist allies.
- Stuart confirmed a reduction in force of twelve positions, or three percent of its employees, from the city government on Monday, along with a decision to hire four additional firefighters. There will be net cost savings to taxpayers of approximately $650,000.
- Sunny and pleasant weather again today with highs in the low to mid 80’s, typical for this date. A plume of Saharan dust is tracking over the Caribbean and Hispaniola extending from the Caribbean Sea through the central Atlantic with another plume moving off the coast of Africa acting as a headwind for tropical development. - The National Hurricane Center is tracking one system in the southern Atlantic. Tropical Storm Lorenzo is expected to spin out in the mid-Atlantic and isn’t a concern.
- Gas prices rose five cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.96 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.10 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.01, it’s $2.96 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.95 per gallon.
