- Florida House Speaker Daniel Perez has announced eight property tax relief proposals that will be under consideration before the legislature when next year’s session kicks off in January. None of the proposals align directly with Governor DeSantis’s call for an end to all homesteaded property taxes. The two closest proposals include one that would end non-school property taxes, while another would exempt homeowners 65 and older.
- A new ordinance banning the use of e-bikes and scooters on sidewalks in Palm Beach is now in effect. Additionally, e-bike riders under the age of 15 are prohibited on public streets in Palm Beach as well.
- NOAA’s Climate Prediction Center released its winter forecast projections for December, January, and February on Thursday. The forecast calls for drier and warmer than usual conditions throughout much of the southern United States, including South Florida and the Treasure Coast, with much of the northern U.S. expected to see colder and wetter than usual conditions.
- Sunny and pleasant yet again today with highs in the low 80’s, typical for this date. A thin plume of Saharan dust extends from the southern Atlantic through the central Atlantic, inhibiting tropical development. Related...
- The National Hurricane Center is tracking two disturbances. A disturbance in the southern Atlantic is expected to cross the Windward Islands into the Caribbean Sea and has a 30% chance of development over the next seven days. A disturbance north of Bermuda is expected to drift east with a 10% chance of development. It’s not of concern.
- Gas prices fell by two cents per gallon on Thursday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.95 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.13 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.00, it’s $2.98 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.95 per gallon
