  • The FBI search for a person responsible for constructing a hunting stand in a tree with a line of sight to Air Force One at Palm Beach International is underway with the FBI taking the lead in the investigation. The discovery of the stand led to the closure of Southern Blvd. Between Congress Ave. And Military Trail on Saturday. President Trump boarded the plane using small stairs as a precautionary measure when he departed for Washington, D.C. yesterday. 
  • The partnership between Florida Atlantic University and Broward Health to allow for medical students to train and research at Broward Health facilities has ended. The announcement came only two years into what was supposed to be a 30-year partnership between the two entities. Approximately 200 FAU students are impacted. FAU is seeking other medical facilities for students to continue their studies.  
  • Palm Beach County is touting a 60% decline in drug overdose deaths over three years ago. Officials are crediting a crackdown on fraudulent drug treatment and sober home facilities. State Attorney Alexcia Cox stated over 120 arrests have been made and over 110 convictions have been secured for those running bogus treatment centers in recent years. 
  • Scattered morning showers will give way to sunny and pleasant weather today with highs in the mid-80’s, a little warmer than usual for this date. A plume of Saharan dust is tracking over the Leeward Islands extending through the central Atlantic acting as a headwind for tropical development. Related...  
  • The National Hurricane Center is tracking one disturbance in the Caribbean Sea The system is expected to track south of Hispaniola and Jamaica with a 70% chance of development. 
  • Gas prices fell through the weekend, touching new lows for the year with prices that are two cents lower than a week ago. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.89 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.09 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.97, it’s $2.92 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.89 per gallon.
