  • In what’s been described as a “Mission Impossible” styled theft, what are believed to be organized criminals cut through the concrete roof of the Treasure Coast Square Mall stealing hundreds of pairs of shoes valued at over $50,000. According to the Martin County Sherriff’s office the theft is believed to have occurred between midnight and 8 a.m. Tuesday morning. Motion cameras inside the store picked up on activity, however no alarms were triggered during the heist.  
  • MSO also announced the arrests of five teens responsible for numerous vehicle break-ins near Southwest Jefferson Ave. and 151st Street. Authorities caught the five suspects in action after numerous calls of break-ins in the area. 
  • Three students at Indiantown Middle School were rushed to the hospital on Wednesday after having consumed THC-infused gummies. The students, who alerted school staff after feeling unwell, are expected to recover. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and a suspect responsible for the distribution of the gummies has been identified.  
  • Palm Beach’s Land Preservation Commission has approved an enhanced helipad at Mar-a-Lago that’s capable of accommodating Marine One. Similar to President Trump’s first term, the helipad will be paid for privately, will be located on the property’s west lawn, and will be removed following his presidency.  
  • Nice and sunny today with highs in the low-to-mid-80’s, typical for this date. A thin layer of Saharan dust is tracking over the Leeward Islands and Hispaniola into the Caribbean Sea extending through the central Atlantic acting as a headwind for tropical development. Related...  
  • The National Hurricane Center is tracking Tropical Storm Melissa which is expected to eventually develop into a major hurricane this weekend as it is expected to stall in the vicinity of Jamaica and Haiti producing a massive rain event on the islands. Longer range modeling suggests the system is likely to move towards the northeast crossing Jamacia and Cuba.  
  • Gas prices rose two cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.95 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.13 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.01, it’s $2.98 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.97 per gallon.
