  • Numerous local non-profits and agencies have established relief efforts for victims of Hurricane Melissa. Additionally, the Jamaican government has established a portal for direct support: Support Jamaica – Official Disaster Relief & Recovery Portal
  • Florida Attorney General James Uthemeier has sued California and Washington over their illegal issuance of a CDL to Harjinder Singh who is responsible for the death of three Floridians following his illegal U-turn attempt in an 18-wheeler on the Turnpike in Fort Pierce. The implications could impact all 50 states. 
  • The St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office is set to receive nearly $1 million from the State Board of Immigration Enforcement for immigration enforcement measures. Approximately half of the money is for enhanced technology to aid law enforcement’s effort to combat illegal immigration. Palm Beach County recently received a similar payment from the state. Additionally, the state is offering law enforcement professionals bonuses of up to $1,000 for their assistance in immigration enforcement as a designated immigration officer. 147 law enforcement professionals are currently set to receive the bonus. 
  • Partly cloudy skies for much of the day with a chance of showers and highs in the low-80’s - typical for this date, are expected today. A cold front will move into our area tomorrow, delivering the coolest weather of the season to date with tomorrow’s high in the mid-70's. A thin plume of Saharan dust is tracking over the central Atlantic, acting as a headwind for tropical development. Related...  
  • The National Hurricane Center is tracking Hurricane Melissa which remains a major hurricane with top winds sustained at 115 mph as it crosses across eastern Cuba. The hurricane will cross through the Southern Bahamas throughout the day today before heading near Bermuda tomorrow. 
  • Gas prices fell two cents per gallon on Tuesday, reaching a new multi-year low. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.87 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.06 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.92, it’s $2.88 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.84 per gallon.
