- A lawsuit challenging Boca Raton’s government campus has been filed by a resident seeking to stop the plan from moving forward citing an alleged failure to comply with a state law requiring an impact analysis of the public-private partnership to determine if the proposal is “in the public interest”. The city is seeking a dismissal of the lawsuit stating that they’re still within the window of time for the analysis to take place.
- Amid the ongoing partial government shutdown, air traffic at Palm Beach International Airport continues to be affected. A total of 61 flight cancellations have occurred since Friday entering Wednesday – though only two cancellations occurred at PBI on Tuesday. Still thousands of cancellations occurred over the past 24 hours with thousands more possible today – with many more delays. All travelers should pay close attention to flight schedules.
- Cooler than usual temps persist today with cloudy skies and highs in the low 70's. We might be nearing the end of the Saharan dust cycle for this season as there’s no meaningful level of dust currently in the Saharan Air Layer for the first time since the spring.
- The National Hurricane Center’s map is clear. Tropical cyclone activity is not expected during the next 7 days.
- Gas prices rose another two cents per gallon on Tuesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.96 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.13 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.00, it’s $2.99 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.96 per gallon.
