Shutdown Is Over, Florida’s A $1 Trillion Winner & Teachers Union Problems

The Shutdown Is Over, Florida’s A $1 Trillion Winner & Teacher’s Unions Are Still Problems – Top 3 Takeaways, November 13th, 2025

Takeaway #1: The shutdown is over

For 43 days the sun continued to rise in the morning and set at night...check that for many of those days it rose in the morning and set in the sticking afternoon because of federal government intervention...which reminds me...and this is a bit of a tangent...but if anything is going to shut down during a government shutdown, couldn’t we at least put an end to arbitrary and unscientific time changes? But anyway, back to the point here. For 43 days 34% of the federal government was offline and the impact on the average American remained...absolutely nothing. In the end only about 27% of Americans felt a direct impact from the longest federal government shutdown in American history that proved to be every bit as stupid as every shutdown before it because we’re exactly where we were before, which has always been the case when these have happened before. With the House passage of the continuing resolution last night, and President Trump’s signature making it law, the third of the federal government, which was shutdown has begun to reopen, and you’ll not hear any talk of a potential shutdown for... well potentially about two months. The CR funds some aspects of the federal government through next September, and most only funded through January. Specifically, the Department of Agriculture, the FDA, the VA, military construction and congresses activities (the legislative branch) are funded through next end of the next fiscal year in September. This means that a potential repeat early next year wouldn’t include the potential for SNAP benefits to lapse, or VA services could be impacted among other things. But it would mean that most other departments and agencies would be impacted at some level once again. This means that debate over what comes next to hash out those details will need to begin almost immediately if a repeat is to potentially be avoided come February.

Takeaway #2: Florida’s $1 trillion play

It’s a number that’s so large it sounds fake...just like many of the politicians in Washington that play around with trillions of dollars like it’s theirs to take from us. While Washington D.C.’s numbers now routinely involve trillions, and Elon Musk’s new pay package too, it’s a number you never hear thrown around at the state level until now. $1 trillion is the amount of income Florida has gained over the past decade at the expense of high tax states. That’s according to a new Unleash Prosperity report showing that over the preceding ten years net migration in Florida has resulted in a bump in over $1 trillion in income to our state. The second closest was Texas at $290 billion gained. That’s a story! Florida is greater than three times the gainer of the second biggest beneficiary...that’s huge! And where did most of that money (and the people behind it) come from...New York – which lost $518 billion in income over that time with California shedding $370 billion, Illinois $315 billion and New Jersey $170 billion. And here’s the irony. The remaining voters in these loser blue states continue to vote for more of the same...or remarkably even worse in the case of New York City. California just voted for Prop 50. New Jersey just elected another pro-illegal immigrant tax and spend Dem and of course New York city went full commie...so based on the past just imagine what that will likely mean going forward...

Takeaway #3: Teachers unions are the most dangerous threat to our youth

That probably been true for the better half of a hundred years now but it’s seemingly without a doubt based on the latest from the American Parents Coalition. The APC put out a “Lookout” warning to parents, warning that the battles fought for parental rights in education against indoctrination are far from over. The APC said that the two largest teachers' unions, the NEA and AFT (which is the parent of every teacher’s union in the state of Florida), have “invested hundreds of millions of dollars in woke organizations” and that they’re as driven as they’ve ever been towards educational indoctrination. Quoting the APC: Teachers’ unions were created to support educators and improve classroom instruction. Instead, they have transformed into radical political organizations that exploit their influence to push far-left ideology instead of prioritizing student academic success. The organization points to the union’s handbooks which currently instruct union members on matters of aWhite Supremacy Culture” which reads: That, in order to achieve racial and social justice, educators must acknowledge the existence of white supremacy culture as a primary root cause of institutional racism,.. Among a myriad of other things. The bottom line is that the battle for the hearts and minds of our children is never ending and the APC’s warning about the agendas of the teacher’s unions, which constituent, in general, the greatest threat to our youth. Notably the unions have also backed the greater than three dozen teachers known to have publicly celebrated the assassination of Charlie Kirk. It’s a reminder that any teacher who chooses to pay to be part of the union chooses to be part of the problem too. And that even in Florida, where we have the strongest educational choice options and parental rights laws in the country, indoctrination could still be happening. It’s important to always be minding the store when it comes to our kids and what’s happening in the classroom. More than half of the teachers still chose to adhere to an organization that demands that they indoctrinate our youth.
