- President Trump has signed the Epstein Files Transparency Act into law. The law compels the Department of Justice to release all unclassified documents held by the Department of Justice related to Jeffrey Epstein. This includes investigative files, records of Epstein's activities, associates, and any unreleased materials from his cases, with redactions limited to protecting national security, ongoing investigations, or other narrow legal requirements. By my estimate there are approximately 187,291 pages of related material.
- South Florida Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus McCormick, her brother Edwin McCormick, and her tax preparer David Spencer, were among those indicted for the alleged abuse of $5 million in COVID-19 related funds received by Trinity Health Care Services, her family’s company she was CEO of prior to her time in Congress. The allegations include a $5 million overpayment made by FEMA through the state of Florida for COVID-19 vaccination services that laundered for personal benefit including proceeds being used to support her congressional campaign to replace the late Alcee Hastings.
- LeapFrog’s annual fall list of hospital grades is out for 192 hospitals across the state. Two area hospitals received “A” grades: HCA Florida St. Lucie and Jupiter Medical Center.
- Sunny skies and slightly warmer than usual temps today with highs in the low 80’s. The National Hurricane Center’s map is clear. Tropical cyclone activity is not expected during the next 7 days.
- Gas prices rose by another six cents per gallon on Wednesday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $3.11 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.25 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.17, it’s $3.15 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.11 per gallon.
