Florida News That Impacts You – January 30th, 2026

  • The Florida Chamber of Commerce painted a strong picture of Florida’s economy in 2026 and through the end of the decade. At the Chamber’s 2026 Economic Outlook and Jobs Solutions Summit, CEO Mark Wilson is anticipating jobs growth of 1.3 million new jobs by 2030 within the state with the ability for Florida’s economy to grow from the 15th largest worldwide to 10th. The Chamber also said they anticipate Florida’s economy will continue to grow faster than the U.S. economy this year with no expectation of a recession. 
  • Palm Beach County leads the state in wasteful spending according to Florida’s DOGE report. The full 99-page report was released on Thursday by the state. Over the past decade the county’s spending has increased by 80% more than population growth, with rising property taxes being the largest percentage contributor to the increased spending that’s taken place. The audit comes amid Governor DeSantis’ push for the elimination of homesteaded property taxes.  
  • It’s a warmer start to the day with temps in the 50’s. Today high will reach the upper 60's today. Another cold front will move into our area tomorrow which will bring the coldest temperatures to our area since January of 2010 this weekend – with freeze watches in place throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast.  
  • Gas prices rose another three cents per gallon on Thursday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.93 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.08 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.96, it’s $2.95 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.97 per gallon.
