Florida News That Impacts You – February 3rd, 2026

Bottom Line: Your daily recap of the biggest news from around the state that impacts you throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast.

  • Top South Florida CEOs Stephen Ross and Ken Griffin have launched a campaign to encourage more businesses to relocate to the Palm Beaches and South Florida. Dubbed the Florida Council of 100, Ross and Griffen have put $10 million behind a marketing campaign aimed at attracting corporate CEOs and their companies to our area. Florida has led the country in business relocations and net wealth migration this decade.
  • Approximately 1,000 cold stunned iguanas were dropped off at the FWC’s Tequesta office. The office is one of five locations FWC opened for iguana drop-offs during the historic cold snap we’ve experienced. Iguanas are an invasive species which ordinarily can’t be legally transported, however FWC signed an executive order allowing for their removal to FWC locations. Yesterday was the last scheduled day for the drop-offs.
  • Freezing temps to start the day again along much of the Treasure Coast with mid-30's throughout the Palm Beaches as we’ve experienced historic cold weather throughout the area the past three days. Today’s high will warm up a bit reaching the mid 60's.
  • Power outages have improved over the past day, though Palm Beach County has the most in Florida yet again this morning with 611 with 143 outages this morning in Martin County. The two counties have been disproportionately affected by power outages during the cold snap that’s placed extra strain on the power grid.
  • Gas prices fell two cents per gallon on Monday. The average price for regular unleaded in Florida is currently $2.88 per gallon. In Palm Beach County the average price is $3.05 per gallon, in Martin the average is $2.94, it’s $2.92 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $2.93 per gallon.
