Unprecedented Temps for SFL & ICED Out Brains - Top 3 Takeaways

Unprecedented Temps for SFL & ICED Out Brains - Top 3 Takeaways - February 2nd, 2026

Takeaway #1: Unprecedented

Yes, it’s still cold throughout South Florida and the Treasure Coast today, but at least it’s not literally freezing to start the day. This marks the first time in three days that record low temps haven’t been recorded across the state. As of yesterday, nine Florida metros recorded record low temps either Sunday or Monday – Daytona Beach, Fort Pierce, Leesburg, Melbourne, Miami, Orlando, Sanford, Vero Beach and West Palm Beach. And as unprecedented as the record low temps the past two days have been in all those locations – there's another record setting dynamic that played out in West Palm Beach yesterday. Preceding the past couple of days, the last time West Palm Beach saw freezing temps had been December 14th of 2010. That also happened to be the last year that there were two days that touched the freezing mark in WPB (the other day was in January of 2010). Knowing that I’d never experienced this in the greater than twenty years that I’ve lived here, I dug into the record books yesterday to attempt to see when the last time was that West Palm Beach had freezing temps in back-to-back days. When do you think it last happened? Here’s a hint, it’s why unprecedented is my top takeaway today. The answer is that it’s never happened in recorded history. Official weather record keeping for West Palm Beach became a thing in August of 1929 and Monday marked the first day that freezing temps were registered as far south as West Palm Beach in back-to-back days. There are more remarkable records, too. For example, in 2010 when Florida had two freezing days within the same year – which is a historical anomaly, the low was 32 both of those days. The temperature was below 32 both of those days. That’s something that has only happened two other times in recorded history – but not in back-to-back days. In fact, there have been 35,246 days with an official weather record in West Palm Beach. Only nine of those days produced colder temps than what’s been experienced over the past couple of days. To put this another way – our area averages less than one day per decade with temps dropping to 31 or below. We just had two in a row, or typically what would have taken over 21 years previously to experience. As for the last time that residents of this area experienced what we’ve experienced? It looks likely that you’d have to go back to the 19th century. While there wasn’t daily temperature tracking in South Florida back then, in late 1894 into early 1895 there’s what was known as “The Great Freeze”. Speaking of which...

Takeaway #2: ICED Out

I think I’ve finally figured out what’s led to the proliferation of “ICE Out” on the Left. As you’ve no doubt noticed it’s been cold, unusually cold, no matter where you’ve been in 2026. But when we’re setting record lows in South Florida, you know it’s been incredibly cold just about everywhere else in this country. That’s especially true is places like Minneapolis, the epicenter of the ICE Out movement. Though it’s not an official diagnosis, I have an operating theory that prolonged exposure to extreme cold can freeze your brain leading to highly questionable political positions...and potentially can even turn you into a Bad Bunny. This theory could explain why a) An adult man would refer to himself as “Bad Bunny”, and b) said “Bunny” would feel compelled at the Grammys to say...Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say ICE out. It doesn’t explain why Roger Goodell tapped the substandard bunny for the Super Bowl Halftime Show, but that’s for another time. Anyway, there’s new data out on the ridiculousness of the ICE Out movement, which is professionally organized by the Marxist Soros-Gates-Walton founded Indivisible group behind the NoKings festivities. It’s pretty concerning. It’s not just the aforementioned bunny’s brain that is a bit whacked.

Takeaway #3: It has infected nearly the entirety of the Democrat Party

Recently YouGov polling found more Americans supporting abolishing ICE (46%) than keeping it (43%) - driven by what’s now near unanimousness among Democrats to do this. That total is up from 27% just last summer. In other words, nearly twice as many people – who’re almost all Democrats – have been radicalized to believe that there should be no law enforcement agency to enforce immigration policy. Honestly, and I don’t say this to be mean, just to be real. How dumb and frankly broken in the brain do you have to be, to think we could never enforce immigration policy and still maintain a country? What’s more is that almost all Democrats now support keeping people who’re 914% more likely to commit crimes in their communities near their families. And while almost all Democrats also cite affordability as their family’s top concern they’re also evidently not bright enough in the brain to know that the number 1 factor behind ‘Bidenflation and the lingering impact of inflation was the result of open border and illegal immigration...and that President Trump’s efforts to combat illegal immigration are directly related to the decline in the inflation rate to date despite the impact of his tariffs. What’s more is what Pew Research just found in their related survey work on the topic. Only 10% of Democrats now think it’s ok for ICE agents to cover their face. 10%! Nine in ten Democrats now evidently believe that at a minimum doxxing and harassing ICE officers and their families is ok. As a data wonk who processes lots of information, I can’t say I’ve ever seen radicalizing of nearly an entire political party happen so quickly. But then again, it coincided with record cold hence my operating theory. Clinical trials are now underway with what happens when long-term TDS is combined with record cold temps. My operating hypothesis is that’s when an ICE Out protestor becomes an ICE obstructor...but more testing is required.
