- Effective next fall Introduction to Sociology will no longer be a core required course for Florida’s university graduates. The state’s Board of Governors voted to make the course an elective starting next school year.
- A volunteer in training at the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections office has been arrested for stealing an encrypted access key from a voter registration terminal. The theft occurred during a training session on March 19th – in advance of last week’s special elections. Authorities found the stolen key along with other electronic equipment at John Panicci’s home on Friday. The Supervisor’s office stated the key was only effective for training exercises.
- Amid the continued partial government shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, wait times at Palm Beach International Airport continued to grow over the weekend. The average time to clear through security at PBI totaled 29 minutes and 54 seconds over the weekend, which is over 16 minutes longer than usual. President Trump signed an executive order to pay TSA agents with paychecks expected to occur today.
- It’ll be gusty and rainy throughout the day again today with a high in the upper 70’s throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast – which is a bit cooler than usual for this date. We can expect similar weather tomorrow into tomorrow, with lower winds and chances on Tuesday.
- Gas prices were a bit higher over the weekend, with the average price for regular unleaded currently at $3.95 per gallon - two cents higher than a week ago. In Palm Beach County the average price is $4.12 per gallon, in Martin the average is $3.98, it’s $3.98 in St. Lucie, and in Indian River County the average is $3.98 per gallon.
