  • House Speaker Mike Johnson told CNN Tuesday that he expects the House will expel indicted South Florida Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick. In the interview Johnson said: I do think certainly on Cherfilus-McCormick, the Ethics Committee has gone through all of its processes, and they’ve found some alarming facts. I think the facts are indisputable at this point, and so I believe it’ll be the consensus of this body that she should be expelled. A recent House investigation into McCormick found her to be in violation of House ethics rules amid her indictment of over $5 million in misappropriated federal COVID relief money.
  • Governor DeSantis recently signed the Transportation Facility Designations bill into law and announced that under the new law Tallahassee’s International Airport will be named for legendary Florida State football coach Bobby Bowden. The announcement follows the renaming of Palm Beach International Airport for President Donald Trump which will also take effect July 1st.
  • The budget feud between Indian River County officials and the sheriff’s office has been settled. Officials agreed to increase the Indian River County Sheriff’s budget by $3.5 million now with an increase to $4 million during the next budget year. The amount was less than the most recent demand of a $5.2 million increase which triggered legal action by Sheriff Eric Flowers.
  • It’ll be sunny and breezy for much of the day with highs near 80 throughout the Palm Beaches and Treasure Coast – which is typical for this date. Similar weather is expected tomorrow as well.
