Takeaway #1: The Dangerous TDS Trend
Perhaps the most shocking thing about Saturday night’s assassination attempt of President Trump, is that it’s no longer shocking. Yes, the sensationalism of a particularly fast and crafty heavily armed 31-year-old computer scientist from California racing past a Secret Service checkpoint and shooting a Secret Service agent while attempting to get into the ballroom where the White House Correspondents dinner was being held was a bit shocking. But show of hands...how many people at this point are actually shocked by an assassination attempt of President Trump? Oh wait...there was the Kaitlan Collins question during the impromptu press conference held by President Trump after the attack...you know the one where the CNN host asked President Trump if he thought he was a target? So, I guess you could say CNN was surprised? Btw, the Collins question reinforced at least one of two things 1) Speaking of shocking...you likely would be shocked at just how generally clueless so many TV news hosts are without a teleprompter in front of them. There’s a reason after all why Ron Burgandy was a thing. 2) Kaitlan reminded us that there aren’t dumb questions – just dumb people who ask questions. But back to the question I asked... Other than perhaps the surprise of the circumstances, were you surprised by the attempt? Four American presidents have been assassinated – Abraham Lincoln, James A. Garfield, William Mckinley and John F. Kennedy. Prior to Saturday’s attempted assassination of President Trump, he’d already survived more credible attempts on his life – 5 – than any other president with a total of 12 that have been actionable. No other president has faced more than two credible attempts on their life. And so the question is why? This was a more intelligently presented question by Fox News’ Peter Doocy at the presser Saturday night. And while a good question (and one that Trump answered well), it’s also effectively rhetorical, isn’t it? There have never been more than two active/credible assassination attempts on any previous president and yet we’ve already had five with President Trump with well more than half of his second term in office to go. Not-so-coincidentally the theme of my Top 3 Takeaways on Friday was:
Takeaway #2: This Version of the Democrat Party Is the Most Dangerous Yet
As I outlined with detailed and supporting facts following the most recent Demonization of President Trump, Border Patrol and ICE by the two highest elected Democrats in this country – Chuck Schumer and Hakeen Jeffries on Friday...If you vote for Democrats you’re voting for more murders to take place. If you vote for Democrats you’re voting for open borders. If you vote for Democrats you’re voting for more rapes to take place. If you vote for Democrats you’re voting for more assaults, more robberies, more of every type of criminal thing. This has been proven in the most visible ways. It’s stunning to me and it’s an alarming possibility that so many people in this country have been radicalized in such a way as to being willing to support and vote for this. It had long been my hope that the radicals on the Left wouldn’t win out, and that reasonable Democrats of the past would take the party back but that’s not what has happened. If you thought Defund the Police was bad, just imagine what Defunding Homeland Security would do.>> Well, the premise of what I said was and is entirely true and correct, however I left one other crime category out of the equation. Assassination attempts. It was sadly ironic that Erika Kirk was in attendance Saturday night. Because what’s changed on the political Left since Charlie’s assassination last September? It hasn’t been the rhetoric by Leftist leaders who continue to rhetorically radicalize their political base – threatening and disparaging President Trump, Border Patrol, and ICE as recently as last week. No, the only change has been that they’ve...
Takeaway #3: Defunded Homeland Security
It’s insane to think that against the backdrop of a record number of assassination attempts on a sitting president, and following the assassination of Charlie Kirk, that the only change in policy by the Democrat Party has been to defund the agency responsible for preventing assassinations. Not only did we have a shutdown of Homeland Security last fall, but we’ve also had a government shutdown of Homeland Security that’s currently in its 72nd day. Here are all of the things not happening at Homeland Security’s 29 agencies – including the Secret Service, Border Patrol, ICE, the Coast Guard and TSA due to every single Democrat in Congress refusing to vote for DHS funding: New hiring and onboarding, routine training, professional development, and many scheduled exercises, strategy work, interagency planning sessions, and future program design, programs that distribute preparedness or security grants to states and localities, routine inspections and audits, IT upgrades and system improvements, public outreach and community programs, administrative processing, maintenance and facility improvements. That’s in addition to expense accounts for employees going unpaid and approximately 100,000 Homeland Security employees who haven’t been paid since this began as well. Back to what I said about Democrats and safety on Friday. What do you think the impact of all of this is? From defunding police and related policies in local communities to federal policy – elected Democrats continue to take every opportunity to make this country less safe. It is outrageous in every way that during a time of record threats and record presidential assassination attempts, the very Department and agencies responsible for combating these things have been defunded and continue to lack the resources they need to operate at full capacity. My final thought is this. If your goal was aligned with that of a would-be assassin, what would you have done differently than what elected Democrats in congress have done up to this point? Anything? Any questions? TDS is real. Evil is real. The government shutdown of Homeland Security is real and must be addressed immediately. And if every elected Democrat in congress continues to reject it as they’ve done – the reconciliation process begun last week by the Senate should move forward in the House as well immediately.
